Mellowgore!

Hail mortals!

Welcome to Mellowgore's blog. Here you will find few information about who we are, and links to our songs.

Mellowgore consists of two members of the Turkish prog rock band, Düşey: Kayahan Balta and Laçin Şahin. The creation of Mellowgore dates back to 2008, when one day while travelling in the bus, Kayahan starts to sing a "gay" version of Eaten, by Bloodbath (respecting those days when "gay" used to mean "happy"). He records the song and sends it to friends, as well as to Anders Nyström of Bloodbath&Katatonia. The recording, having a really poor quality, receives good feedbacks. Anders asks Kayahan to put it on Youtube to share with the world. However, Kayahan, studying in Göteborg, Sweden then; couldn't do so due to lack of time.. until today!

After returning back to Turkey in 2010, Kayahan asks Laçin to join him. The idea is simple: use evil, satanic, disgusting etc.. lyrics and make them "beautiful". After Laçin accepts to join the project, and finds the name "Mellowgore", Kayahan starts to write few more songs. Having Laçin in the band gives Kayahan the opportunity to write more complex parts and include solos. So far, the duo recorded 2 songs. There are few more songs ready to be recorded, but most probably this will be postponed to 6 months later, due to the fact that Kayahan has to go to military service now.

There are two important points that we would like to include here. First of all, we are neither mocking the original songs, nor being serious with what we do. We love metal and the songs of which we use the lyrics are masterpieces for us. We just want to show to those who hate metal just because the lyrics sound disgusting to them, that there is beauty in evil! (ok, we just made this up right now. Seriously, who needs a reason to make music?)

Secondly, we have no intention to infringe copyrights. All the lyrics that are being used by Mellowgore belong to their respective owners. Since we are not aiming any kind of profit by posting the songs on the web, we believe no rights are violated. If you think otherwise, come and find us!
